8-Week Foundations of Drawing Course

This course welcomes students of all skill levels, focusing on the development of both artistic vision and technical accuracy. You’ll learn to observe the world more closely and translate what you see onto paper with confidence. We’ll explore a range of drawing techniques—from contour and gesture drawing to more refined methods—and practice combining them effectively. Along the way, we’ll study light and shadow to create lifelike, expressive drawings that capture the depth and nuance of real-world scenes.

18″ x 24″ pad of newsprint paper
Fine point permanent markers
Charcoal, vine, or compressed charcoal (avoid the fat-squared compressed varieties)
Kneaded eraser
Art chamois (chamois from the auto part stores are more economical)

8-Week Drawing the Human Form

Unlock the expressive power of the human form in Drawing the Human Spirit, an immersive 8-week figure drawing course at Alvarez Art School. Designed for artists of all levels, this course blends classical techniques with contemporary approaches to help you capture gesture, anatomy, and emotion with confidence and clarity.

Through live model sessions, dynamic exercises, and guided critiques, you’ll explore:

Plein Air Painting

Kids’ Art Camp!

Kids’ Art Camp invites children to discover the joy of creating with a variety of 2D and 3D materials. Through fun, hands-on activities like drawing to music, collage, rubbings, and more, campers will explore imaginative, non-representational art. All supplies and materials are included.

Camp Rate: $200. If registering more than one child from a family, you may request a 10% discount

Plein Air Painting Retreat!

Immerse yourself in a three-day, three-night retreat at the breathtaking John Wesley Ranch, nestled next to the scenic beauty of Mueller State Park. Enjoy comfortable lodging and expertly crafted meals by High Altitude Taste, featuring the culinary talents of Chef Aubrey. This enriching workshop offers 18 hours of hands-on instruction, complemented by engaging evening critiques to refine your skills.
